Group: Conclusions from moodboard task

Narrative music videos
-twist at the end of video
-amplifying or illustrative relationship between visuals and lyrics
-camera movement used to move from scene to scene
-slow motion used to match visuals with lyrics when tempo changes
-POV shots position audience within story
-tend to follow Todorov's theory

Mark Ronson
-hip-hop style changed to vintage, old-fashioned style (with new twist)
-now mixed this with electro genre, revealed by effects on music videos
-present day: 70's funk genre
-very diverse artist - all music videos are different

Music genre - funk
-conventions include 1960's outfits (when originated)
-fourth wall broken frequently
-Dyer's presence/absence paradox and extraordinary/ordinary paradox present
-strong narrative

This task has moved forward our concept enormously, as now we have some fundamentals to base our music video on in terms of creating a narrative music video. We also have a good level of information about Mark Ronson's print work and the stylistic methods he uses. For example - we aren't going to use many visual effects, as his current genre of music is not the same as music videos for songs such as 'Bang, Bang, Bang.' Lastly - we are assured our video will be fairly conventional for the funk genre, and can justify decisions we make due to this research.
