Advantages of the Trip
-The location made it possible for certain shots to be filmed and critiqued, thus allowing us to see if they are appropriate for use in our video. some such shots were the distance changing, static camera, running shot, and the close up slo-mo cigarette drop. as well as allowing us to try out planned shots we are able to look at new ones that present themselves as we look at new locations.
-The trip also posed as a good opportunity to attempt some of the transitional shots that we envisioned using in the video. such as the zoom in and out of the characters back. whilst changing scene where the camera meets the back. and the sky shot. Brighton made this possible through the variation in locations. such as the beach, and town.
-The trip was also an opportunity try still photos composition that could be utilised in the production of the promotional package that we have to create, the vibrant graffiti walls in particular were useful for this.
-Possibly one of the most vital advantages of the trip was the fact that we can now rule out a high population urban area, like Brighton for the video, as we found people would enter shot and end up spoiling the overall feel of the end result.
Learning Points:
-We discovered different ways in which to film shots what we had envisioned, to see how to work with an environment to get the best out of each shot. helping us with final composition.
-We now know that to go to location with a plan in our heads, like we did on the trip is the best way forward, as it allows us to make full use of the time.
-The ability to discard Brighton as a possible location narrows down the search, and ultimately speads up the searching process.
